Finland celebrates Kalevalanpäivä on 28.2.

Kalevala is a Finnish national literary treasure compiled by Elias Lönnrot. The poems featured in the book were compiled from tens of poets in the country during 15 years. The older version of Kalevala was published on 28.2.1835, but it is the newer version, published in 1849, that is famous around the world. Kalevala has been tranlated to 48 different languages.
Kalevalanpäivä became a national holiday in 1978, a day of Finnish culture.
